Hotel Vera has a history as rich and fascinating as the region it calls home. Built in 1903, it began its life as Villa Heimgarten, a welcoming retreat designed to offer comfort and relaxation to visitors drawn to Jachymov by the re-discovery of uranium in the 19th century. From the very beginning, the building was more than just a place to stay—it was a haven where guests could rest, refresh, and soak in the unique charm of the town and its surroundings. Even through turbulent times, the building retained its purpose of hosting visitors. During the German annexation of the region in 1938, Villa Heimgarten continued to welcome travelers, maintaining its reputation as a peaceful retreat. After World War II, in 1945, the city returned under Czech administration following the Benes decrees. Soon after, access to the hotel was restricted due to the strategic importance of local uranium deposits, reflecting the town’s vital role in Europe’s industrial and scientific history. In 1948, following nationalization, the building was transformed into a fire station, a role it faithfully served for more than fifty years. During this time, the structure remained a landmark of the city, standing as a silent witness to decades of change, growth, and development in Jachymov. The early 2000s marked the beginning of a new chapter. Purchased by its current owner in 2003, the building underwent a careful and complete reconstruction, balancing respect for its historic character with the comfort and convenience modern travelers expect. In 2015, Hotel Vera opened its doors, reimagined as a luxurious retreat that invites guests to experience both history and modern hospitality. Today, Hotel Vera offers more than accommodation—it offers an experience.
